Information for Newcomers

Welcome! We’re glad you’re interested in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). We’re a volunteer educational nonprofit that researches and recreates pre-seventeenth century arts, sciences, combat, practices, and culture and have a lot of fun doing it!

If you’re not sure where to start, our chatelaine is the person to ask! If you have specific questions, check out our Baronial Officer page for descriptions of what people do.

Three people are seated around a table playing a game for Hershey kisses. Three more stand around watching them. There is a man in the background eating something and looking their way.

The Queen sits on a wooden throne in a dark blue dress with a rust underlayer. There are two other thrones visible to her sides, one with a Princess in blue and one with a Baron in dark blue and green. Several people stand behind them, including a herald in a natural fabric with her mouth open.

There are also a number of other resources for newcomers to the SCA.
